Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading their performance. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more attachments.

Armor

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. The Jeweler can craft all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones that require an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.
Using more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically done for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and make a surface harder than steel, so that the repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost in power and can be swapped, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character many small, but valuable benefits. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and evasion. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and also helps make up for a lack of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's best stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future.
